MUDDY BOOTS....

We couldn't resist it!! This evening we went by the house to check on the building progress. After taking another punch from mother nature of 2-4 inches of snow and frigid cold temperatures, I anticipated that construction would have been shut down. Well, we were both pleasantly surprised by the amount of work that had been done. The footing and foundation for the basement is moving along quickly.  I suspect that the foundation is/will be inspected pretty soon....this is quite exciting because next up is framing!!

The home site was super muddy and wet. I'm not sure why I convinced myself to get out of the car-- because as soon as I stepped out my feet quickly sank into the mud.  My reliably comfortable and hip converse almost ruined!!  I'm glad I got them in leather because the mud was able to rinse off once I got home. But Dwight's boots....let's just say I don't think they survived....but at least he can wear the same muddy boots to the site again and again.

On a positive note, we've had the opportunity to drive through the neighborhood either the day after or a couple days after our area has been hit with snow.  Each time our neighborhood has been plowed and streets are clean and quite.  Considering our association fee is not costly, I anticipated a little lag with street cleaning....Thankfully, this has not been the case.  I think we made a great choice!!

Enough of me babbling....the basement is coming along well.  I haven't been able to distinguish which room is which and how sizes match up---but soon enough i'll be able to walk in and get a closer view.

  1. Lookin good! And we also had the "muddy" problem at this stage of construction. I cringed every time I got back in my car with my muddy shoes! But it was all worth it. :)

  2. Coming along nicely. I had the same issue 2 days ago. I was walking around the property and one of my feet sank about 12 inches into the mud. I guess they never packed the dirt tightly after running the sewage line. It didn't help that the ground was soaking wet also.

    1. I anticipate lots of muddy days to come. Our forecast is for rain and more rain....not complaining because i'll take it over the snow...but certainly this means more muddy trips to the site!

  3. It looks great. Now you really get a better idea of your yard. It's really quite nice. They are moving along at a fast pace. I think we are a couple of weeks behind you in schedule. We pour the footers Monday.

  5. Just wait until walls go up! I think you'll find yourself sneaking around fairly often - I know we did!
